July 2023. Just ordered and received a new Xbox One controller and tried to hook it up to my steamdeck. I had the same problem published here. I updated the firmware on the controller via my Xbox Series X and it did not work. I followed the further directions and updated the firmware via the Xbox acc app on my laptop and that did work!!!
