I would say furious is better. You may not get to shoot enemies often enough to kill them, but my two shot plasma caster has ridiculous spread. Even from 10 feet away it's already hard to hit enemies with both projectiles. Since it seems to be targeted for longer range combat, two shot really works too much against it. 3.

Plasma caster is a good sniper. Minigun with shredder is great damage and almost zero upkeep, but melee range. Flamer does pretty huge damage at a very short range (don't mess with the nozzle unless you want to commit to modding the gun every log-in). Gatling gun and ultracite gat laser both suffer a bit on DPS for different reasons.Plasma caster thrives with crit vats builds. So a minimal agility build isn't gonna be great if you can only get 2 or 3 shots off before u need to re-up AP items. Plasma caster is my favorite gun, but I never use it with power armor. This is probably the most versatile heavy weapon in Fallout 76, possessing no major downsides and functions with any kind of play style. The DPS is good, with a respectable fire rate and damage.
